Shameful is not a word often used to describe a Marion, nor any soldier for that matter. But Henry felt it’s cold sting with every gust of wind that shook the branches above him, tossing leaves into the resilient fire. Now all that is left is an empty path ahead, and a storm upon the horizon. Every battle he ever fought, every war that raged, either within the walls of his mind, or behind those that separate him from the enemy. He had always ran away. His daughter. He could only hope that the ancient ghosts of the hills were keeping her safe. If not them, than perhaps the scissor blade-burdened warrior friend of hers could ward away the beast of these wretched woods. Goodnight, Rose.
